Seleni Joins Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams at a Rally For a Family Friendly Brooklyn
Rally will support statewide family leave, breastfeeding empowerment zone expansion, and postpartum depression screening
According to the United States Census, the number of children under the age of 5 living in Brooklyn is higher than the New York State average, and the size of households in Brooklyn surpasses the State average. In support of Brooklyn families, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams is supporting a comprehensive platform advocating for paid family leave, safe sleep practices, breastfeeding, and maternal postpartum depression screening.
On April 16th at the Brooklyn Borough President’s office at Borough Hall, Brooklyn, the Seleni Institute will conduct a free training for perinatal care providers to improve their ability to screen for mood & anxiety disorders in pregnant and postpartum women. Postpartum depression and anxiety is the most common complication of pregnancy, affecting up to twenty percent of women. Left untreated, PPD can develop into chronic depression for a mother and impair her child’s cognitive and emotional development, but with proper treatment, women can recover.
After the training, at 11am, Seleni will join Eric L. Adams at a rally to call for policies such as paid family leave, safe sleep practices, breastfeeding empowerment zone expansion, and screening for perinatal mood & anxiety disorders.
Join us in supporting Brooklyn families - RSVP to the Facebook event and share the event with anyone who cares about these issues and wants to join the rally in support.
