Seleni's November Scholarship Recipients in honor of Thanksgiving
November 2021 – New York, NY - In honor of Thanksgiving this month, Seleni is pleased to award its November recipients the Scholarship for Maternal Mental Health Professionals for 2021.
This month we are thankful for all the mental health professionals who support their patients and communities through the family-building period. They are critical to mothers and families everywhere overcoming challenges.
Seleni was thrilled to have scholar recipients from various US states and from Europe. These also included scholars from organizations such as The Azadi Project and Fundación Soymás. Here are just a few comments from our recipients:
“My community already lacks so many resources and therefore, I will be able to pass on information people may have not known prior. And while I know I cannot solve every issue in my community, my hope is that the perinatal mental health field is one I can contribute to. So many generations before mine, people have suffered in silence. By me receiving this training, I can hopefully serve my community in the best way possible; by empowering my clients and their families and giving them knowledge. And everyone knows knowledge cannot be taken away.”
“I work with people between ages 18-50…who experience perinatal mood or anxiety disorders or have experienced perinatal loss in the past…Having completed this training I will be able to recognize these signs and support them appropriately.“
We welcome all mental health professionals (social workers, doulas, midwives, nurses, lactation consultants, students, etc.) working in underserved communities to apply for future rounds: APPLY HERE.
