Seleni Announces First Round of Recipients for its Scholarship for Maternal Mental Health Professionals in 2021
February 2021 – New York, NY - Last month Seleni was proud to launch its Scholarship for Maternal Mental Health Professionals for 2021. Committed to supporting mental health professionals, Seleni will award 100 full scholarships throughout the year on a rolling basis for one of our most recent trainings, Maternal Mental Health Intensive for Young Parents: Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (MMHI4Teens: PMADs).
Seleni is pleased to announce its first round of scholarship recipients:
Emily Guarnotta
Julie Baron
Kenisha Smalls
Kimberly Hunter-Bryant
Laura Vladimirova
Tatiana Christina Eleftheriou
Tiffany Hodgson
Zora Sterling
The team was moved by their applications and the recipients’ commitment to their communities. Recipients commented:
“My motivation for attending this training is my desire to help others the way others helped me when I was facing my own battle with postpartum depression.”
"As I currently work within a shelter that serves homeless families, I want to be able to assist clients in dealing with the emotional transition of new parenthood, as well as helping them with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders."
"I am a first-time mother of a 20 month old and also in a caretaking role as a mental health provider and greatly struggled with PPD despite having access to many resources. I care about this work from a personal and professional lens and want to specialize in working with a perinatal population."
The application remains open for another round which will be announced next month. It is open worldwide to mental health professionals, social workers, doulas, midwives, nurses, lactation consultants, students in these fields, or other health care professionals who feel they would benefit from this training. Candidates must work primarily with underserved populations. Submissions are rolling throughout 2021 and recipients will be announced monthly.
